The SA-8 is an aging air defense system that was meant to fill the gap between the SA-9 and the SA-6 systems. The employment of the 2S6 and SA-15 systems, however, are making the SA-8 obsolete in CIS units. It is still however, prevalent in many other countries. The systems has it's own target acquisition, tracking, and missile guidance radars, making an SA-8 a completely self-contained unit. Although the missile has less than average accuracy and ECCM capability, a single hit from this system will most likely bring down a helicopter.
